The
T&G Building
Tilleke
& Gibbins moved from Wang Lee Building on lower Suriwongse
Road to its present building on November 23, 1987. Pursuant
to our construction requirements, the big trees which existed
around the perimeter of the area remained untouched and are
still flourishing. Moreover, we added pocket parks beside
and in front of the building. We also have small potted trees
and plants at the reception areas and in many areas within
the building. We are presently building a canteen on the rooftop
of the building with lots of potted trees and a pocket park
to enhance the atmosphere.

Ever
since Tilleke & Gibbins launched its reforestation project
in 1993 to heighten everyone's awareness of the environment,
the firm has continued to impress upon the staff the importance
of conservation by encouraging the staff to:
- Save
both the trees and the firm's expenditure by using both
sides of paper for internal use' re-use ink ribbons for
dot matrix printers; use recycled toners.
- Reduce
the use of plastic bags by providing plastic containers
in which bought food can be kept to all staff and to some
clients and friends as Christmas and New Year gifts. When
we host seminars or conferences, we also give cloth-bags
for keeping documents to participants instead of leather
or plastic bags.
In addition,
to keep our working place environmentally safe, we have installed
air purifiers and ionizers in all photocopier rooms; changed
the synthetic carpeting to special vinyl flooring, which is
easy to clean and does not generate toxic gas when it catches
fire; and have all our air-conditioning units and vents checked
every month to avoid the sick-building syndrome. A few years
ago, officials from the Ministry of Science, Technology and
Environment and King Mongkut Institute of Technology came
to check, at our request, the air quality in our building
and we passed their tests with flying colors.
